Why do so many people choose cork products?
Strictly speaking, cork is not wood, but the bark of oak. Oak is a special tree species. If its bark is plucked regularly, not only will it not be damaged, but it can also grow new bark. Oak tree is one of the oldest tree species in the world, with a history of about 60 million years. Now the world’s softwood resources are mainly concentrated on the Mediterranean coast and the Qinling Mountains in Shaanxi, China.

The main component of cork, cork fibers are composed of cells that are generally 14-sided polyhedrons, and the spaces between the cells are filled with mixed gas almost the same as air. The vast majority of each cell is also gas, mainly air without carbon dioxide. Under the microscope, every cubic centimeter of cork contains about 40 million cells, so when people walk on the cork floor, it is like walking on 50% of the air.

The above-mentioned special structure and composition make cork a special material with a series of special properties and diversified functions. The main characteristics of cork are light weight, high buoyancy, strong elasticity, flexibility and compression resistance, strong impermeability, moisture and corrosion resistance, extremely poor conductivity, heat and sound insulation, strong insulation, friction resistance, not easy to occur, and can delay the spread of fire , Will not cause allergic reactions and so on.

The main manifestation of cork products is wine bottle stoppers, and all bottled wines use cork stoppers. All wine barrels are made of oak tree trunks. The tannins in the oak can make the wine color, reduce the odor of the wine, become milder, and have the aroma of oak, making the wine smoother, more mellow and wine color Deep red solemn. At present, the annual consumption of natural cork in the world is 23 billion. Automobile cylinder head gasket is also an important manifestation of cork products.

What are the products made of cork?
①Natural cork products. After being steamed, softened and dried, directly cut, stamped, and turned into finished products such as plugs, pads, handicrafts, etc.

②Bake cork products. The leftover material of natural cork products is crushed and then compacted into shape, and baked in an oven at 260-316°C for 1 to 1.5 hours. After cooling, it becomes a cork brick for low-temperature insulation. It can also be manufactured by superheated steam heating method.

③Cemented cork products. The cork particles are mixed with powder and adhesives (such as resin and rubber) and pressed into cemented cork products, such as floor veneers, sound insulation boards, and heat insulation boards, which are widely used in aerospace, shipbuilding, machinery, and construction.

④Cork rubber products. It is made with cork powder as raw material and the amount of rubber is about 70%. It has the compressibility of cork and the elasticity of rubber. Mainly used as excellent low and medium pressure static sealing materials such as engines, and also used as anti-vibration, sound insulation, friction materials, etc.
