FAQ of Cork Floor

1.What is cork?

Cork is the bark of an oak tree, known as cork oak. The cork cells of the cork bark are particularly developed. After the stripping, the cork layer can be quickly separated to ensure the transport of nutrients and water.

2. Why should I choose cork?

Cork is unique natural material with outstanding properties. Each cubic centimeter of cork contains 40-60 million encloses air cells. These cells will be the toughness, durability, moisture resistance properties of the cork, insulation and sound insulation.

3.What are the benefits of  cork floor?

The benefits of cork flooring are as followed: environmental friendly, resilient, durable, moisture resistant, heat resistant and soundproof. The properties of cork are hypoallergenic, antimicrobial and insect resistant.

4. Is the cork floor fading?

Exposure under the sun may result in the reduction of cork color. So we should try to avoid direct sunlight and the curtain is best for UV protection.

5. Can cork floor be installed on radiant floor heating?

Cork floor is ideal for radiant floor heating. In the radiant heating conditions, the requirements of protecting floor are relatively more. First of all, the floor material should be environmental friendly, and it should not emit odor and formaldehyde. Therefore, the MDF floor (reinforced laminate flooring) is not suitable for the ground radiant heating floor. In addition, the ground radiant heating tends to make the floor lose moisture and dry, so the floor is easy to crack, deform and warp because moisture change is not suitable for radiant heating floor not like solid wood flooring and laminate flooring. Cork itself is a poor conductor of heat, and the heat is relatively slow, but its thermal insulation performance and heat dissipation are relatively slow. Compared with ceramic tiles, the temperature is slower and more stable and more comfortable.

6. Can cork floor be installed in the kitchen?

Yes, we recommend cork floor for kitchen.

7. Can cork floor be installed in the bathroom?

Yes, you can choose cork floor but after installation, you need to make a complete paint coating on the floor to completely seal the seams. We recommend that it be mounted on the edge of the shower/bath and toilet.

8. Will heavy furniture damage the floor?

Heavy furniture can compress floor. Cork has a memory, so once the pressure from the furniture is removed, the floor will bounce back. We recommend that the cork trim be placed on the part of the furniture that touches the ground.
